Katie had always been good at cooking. At the foster home everyone had dug her cooking, most of which her light airy chocolate chip cookies. Unknown to some people here she had been in the kitchen for just less than an hour cooking the heavenly food. She had made two batches of 22 and just a few minutes ago had put them in the oven to bake. She wasn't greedy, she wasn't baking for herself. No she was baking for everyone else in the house, maybe someone might take some interest and talk to her then. The fridge was so full it was bursting, and there was plenty spare to make the cookies. She was feeling a little pekish but she'd leave it at this seen as it wasn't even lunch time yet, maybe then she could make her special Dish, Fine Pasta with light cheese and mayonnaise, didn't sound too nice but oh god it had the taste buds going when you tried it.
As she washed her hands in the luke warm water running from the tap she then dried them on a tea towel. The kitchen door was open, and the smell of delicious baking cookies flooded out of it.

Jake caught a whiff of biscuits cooking on the fresh air. Was it another captive, or the cook? It was probably a girl anyway. Not Layla, she prefered making snacks like sandwiched or pasta. Skyla seemed to busy with her nails, as did Shannon, Ana? Or that Katie girl? So Jake set to following his nose, patrolling to th edge of the kitchen. So it was Katie, he thought, as a bustle of girl came past the door.
||' Ello||
Jake said breezily, leaning against the wooden frame of the door.

Katie looked over her shoulder as she took to a seat at the small breakfast bar area with a magazine infront of her, 'Ello. She smiled softly, not all that shy now it was just one person. She dind't find that so intimidating. Oh, hiya. She said softly, as if some of the shyness had gone.

Jake looked at her inquisitively, and his stomach responde to his nose greedily. It rumbled, and Jake laughed.
||So it's you making cookies. Yum, I haven't had anything to eat all day. A good biscuit will cure that||
Jake said, putting on his puppy-dog face that usually got him what he wanted. Unless he did it with Layla. SHE'D just get her dog collar and tie it around his neck.

She turned around so she was half facing him as he talked, only then did she realise he was actually quite cute for a guy. She had expected quite rough guys to be around here, been free an' all. So it's you making cookies. Yum, I haven't had anything to eat all day. A good biscuit will cure that. She nodded to his comment and laughed too, shaking her head slightly she looked back towards the oven timer, Will it? She asked, but not in a direct quiestion, more as in a teasing way with more to come, Shame they are going to be another 12 minutes. She said laughing. She didn't say it to get to him, just a friendly dig at him.

Jake titled his head to the ceiling in mock exasperation, grinning behind his hands which he had held over his face. He dropped to the floor, swaying on his haunches and dropping his head in fake despair.
||What will I do?||
Jake cried, looking at Katie humorously.
||I'll starve!||
He got up and laughed, taking a look at the timer. 12 mintues. She was right. Aww.

She chuckled and smiled sweetly. Her foster carers had always told her that when she smiled it highlighted all her features, many of them told her she loked even more beautiful when she smiled. She almost blushed remembering. because back at the foster home she was sad most of the time, so when she smiled it was arare occasion. She smiled sweetly to him, I've got two batches in. The first one won't be too long. She said, smiling, looking towards a second tray in the oven, they were almost done. I never caught your name before, or if i did i've forgot. She said honestly, her voice was sweet and actually a sound you never got fed up of hearing.

Jake grinned. He was starting to like this girl; more than he had in the Rec Room, anyway. But she probably seemed intimidated by two guys, as he had said. Especially ones lying round on the couch watching hockey and throwing darts at the wall. She was pretty, just as much as Layla. She had darker hair, but she still had the same eyes, and stature. She didn't quite have Layla's nose though; everyone who saw Layla's nose agreed that it was the nicest they had ever seen. But this girl had a lighter voice, more tinkly, like elf music, as Layla would say. You have to realise that Jake is closest to Layla than anyone now that her brother is gone, and to get a compliment out of him would mean you had to be equal or higher value than his cousin.
||I'm Jake. You're Katie, correct? And those cookies better be finished soon. I am completely starved||
Jake smiled.

She looked back towards the magazine for no apartent reason then back towards him as he spoke. I'm Jake. You're Katie, correct? And those cookies better be finished soon. I am completely starved. She grinned to him and just as he finished she got up and walked around the breakfast bar and bent down to the cooker, opening the oven up and looking at th cookies inside, done to perfection. She slid on the oven gloves and took them out, slamming the hot oven shut and getting thegloves off as soon as possible, they were so not fashionable. Even if Katie didn't seem to be one of those hyped up on the latest fashion she was still very trendy. Going for the more laid back trends. Such as K-Swiss Trainers, Miss Selfridge, Morgan that sort of label. Give them a few minutes and you can have one. She said, straightening herself out and turning to look at him. She rested against the kictehn worktop counter with her back and crossed her arms across her chest.

Jake smiled, giving her a Chinese-style bow and attempting to stir up a conversation. So far their talk had been about cookies and starvation, as well as names. Jake was sure she'd be good friends with Layla. They were kind of the same, when you thought about it.
||So... how've ya been?||

So... how've ya been? She looked at him, for a second she had been lost in thought about whether she should bake her special pasta dish for dinner or go for a Curry, both were interesting her. A nice spicey chicken curry. She looked up at him, her baby blue gaze fixing on him. So... how've ya been? She had to run it by herself again. She thought about it, really, how had she been? Lonely, bored, Isolated, home-sick? Not bad, a bit bored and stuff but okay. What about you? She asked, she wasn't obviously going to spill everything to him was she. She kept her eyes on him, Defintly cute. Very Cute.

Jake shrugged. He really had no big secret or anything, like half the people here. They all seemed to have suffered tradgedies, which made them the big union of people joined by suffering. Yea, right. Apart from his cousin dying, he had no big heartbreak. Now Layla, her brother AND grandmother died, in the space of a year. But she still struggled on. Good ol' Layla.
||Alright, I guess. I hope the Flames win||
Jake said suddenly, with a smirk as he remembered his and Aiden's vain attempt to make her feel welcome.

She smiled and nodded, Alright, I guess. I hope the Flames win. She looked at him, quickly remembering their converstation, well his and aidens about some sort of match, she couldn't remember which. Yeah. She said, giving him an expression which read 'If you say so' but in an amusing way.

||Somehow||
Jake announced dramatically,
||I don't think you appreciate fine sport||
He shrugged, thinking: It must be a girl thing. Pity. Sport was around half of everything in a guys life.

She just mockingly pull a sorry expression at his first comment, not really having something to reply to such a 'dramtic' thing. She laughed inside thought and touched one of the cookies, it was warm. Perfect, the chocolate chips were whole but melted and it looked mouth watering tastey. I don't think you appreciate fine sport. She rose an eyebrow and grinned, Oh yeah? Well suprisingly i might be more into sports than you think. She spoke softly but truthfully. She was. She was hooked on football, but english football, she'd never been to an america football game but guessed it wasn't much different. Infact, she had Englands Strip, but ti was very girly and personalised. It was a fitting yet loose Football top, the english top, white and red yet was made for a female and she had the shorts, but they were more like hotpants. She didn't do tom boy and only wore those shorts for the gym. I actually love football.
