Layla breathed a sigh. Oh, thank goodness he had told her that! At least now she knew it was a memory, not her herself. Now that the paranoid cogs in her head had stopped working, Layla could function properly again. She knew better than to ask what bothered him; her own experiences showed she didn't want to seem soft and foolish in front of people. Layla smiled, now that her mind was crystal clear.
+Of course. Violets are well enough, but not if you spend too long in their charming company. I mean, to suit yourself: The gruesome weeds are useless things. What is the point in them?+
Layla finished packing up her basket, which was now considerably lighter, thanks to Aiden's gut, and turned to fold the cloth. She draped it over one arm and turned back to Aiden.

He smirked, still a bit at ill-ease. His arm reached out and lifted the basket from her hands easily, "I suppose they're good for enthralling young women." he lent her a wry grin, "And starting conversations, perhaps even friendships, between strangers." he tipped his head at a slight angle, his eyes swimming with friendlyness and also a few other emotions he tried desperately hard to hide...

Layla allowed him to take her basket. She smiled back, glad he wasn't as hostile as she had first thought. But she had figured that out during the first part of their conversation, in which violets were: ''Obnoxiously bright and cheery". They were not! Well, only a bottomless pit of a man would be able to think so. She grinned and replied.
+Of course. Why, what would the world be without friendship and flowers? If it were not for these violets I wouldn't have know never to get you a corsage for a present+

"The world would be much more grey, and quite a bit less cheery, I suppose." he smiled and started up the small knoll towards the back porch of the Mansion, "So where to now?" he asked. Glancing down at the basket in hand, he wondered where Layla had obtained it from; the kitchen perhaps? Or maybe she'd brought the entire lunch with her. That seemed rathe unlikely. Thinking of food, he lifted his head and furrowed his brow; what was the plan for getting meals? Surely the house didn't come with a food creating device, they'd have to leave some time to go get food, right? That being said, they couldn't actually be expected to live in this house 24/7 could they? Would they ever get out to breathe some fresh air? Darn it, he should've asked before he signed up, or maybe it was in the fine print he'd so quickly scanned over. He lifted his brow in sheepish realization that the questions were probably rooted by his own foolishness, and elected not to voice any of them.

Layla raised her eyebrows. Why, there was Aiden saying something relatively nice about flowers! Halelujah! She glanced as him. He seemed troubled, glancing to the basket. Layla was a good reader of people, especially men. Women were the more complex sex (I'm a poet and I don't know it! Lol). It was easy to see what a man could think. Something about food? Meals? Layla herself wondered about that. When would they eat?
+I don't know either+
Layla admitted, to a question not even asked.
+I mean, when and where are we going to eat?+

Aiden glanced up in surprise; she'd all but read his mind. He shrugged, "I assume someone's gonna have to go grocery shopping. I just hope it isn't me-" he sent her a lop-sided grin and cimbed the steps to the back verdana of the Mansion, "Or we'll be eating Cheerios and Joe-Louis for a week." he winked and paused on the landing, studying the porch for a moment. It was quite elegant- with a roof supported by pillars that stood every five feet or so. The pillars were also spaced with a railing that would keep anyone who was either unsteady on their feet, or terribly drunk, from toppling off the porch. It wrapped around the side of the house- though Aiden couldn't see around the corner, he assumed the same thing would continue on down the row.
Turning, he twisted the brass knob of the door easily and held it open for Layla, "I suppose the girls could always go shopping; if we're ever allowed out."

Layla laughed. True. He'd all but read HER mind. They would be living on Cheerios and Joe-Louis if a guy went shopping. That's probably why women are the more talented sex, Layla thought. We can multi-task, and have common sense. Dunno about me though! She thought, thinking about the time she had searched the house for an hour, looking for the sunglasses that were on her head. And that was only less than a month ago.
+Why thankyou!+
Layla said, smiling at Aiden.
+What a gentleman you're shaping up to be! +
And for once Layla left out a thought or speech about Aiden's manners. No, it didn't matter. There were more important things in life than the way someone ate.
